After over a year and a half, I’m hoping that everyone is ready to resume some sense of new normal. Once the shots were ready, I thought: “Finally, we’re going to do lessons, and bands, and everything.” Nope. Summer travel took priority, and with good reason. Many people weren’t able to see family for over a year. In fact, this was just another moment when I thought I could ride the enthusiasm back regularity. There have been several: PPP, Safe In-Person protocols for Office Space 2, Vaccines! Dropping of mask mandates. These ups and downs have had an effect where I didn’t see much point in pushing anything only to see a lack of interest and signal another defeat.
But things are different now. We’re smarter about how we go about our lives, and live with COVID until we’re rid of it. Requests for weddings and lessons are becoming more frequent. I played my first theater show in November, a full 2 years in between the last. So, finally, I think we’re getting back…I hope.
The best way to experience change is to cause it. This website is undergoing a renovation, and will emerge on a new platform soon. New design and new items for sale online. I’ve been re-editing some popular classical etudes and pieces. My beginner method will soon be completed as an ePub. I even see some Christmas sheet music in there too. It seems like every 10 years or so, I go through one of these website upheavals. It’s not what you’d call fun, but necessary.
Highland Guitar Studio is ready. Are you?
I’ve done the lessons 6 feet apart, with masks on, after wellness checks, and all that. Still following the necessary guidelines, lessons and classes are back on. BUT, you need your vaccine. If you’re not vaccinated and have no intention to do so, there’s a guitar studio out there for you, somewhere. It’s just not this one. At this time, I’m only taking on students that have had their vaccines, or are in the process. Bring your card, I only need to see it once. Students under 12, will still need to wear a mask, until they get their shot. Strum Sessions are back on, and Rock Band will resume in the Winter ’22. ‘Just Beginners’ Guitar Class is also starting again. Teens section: Mondays 7:30pm, starts Jan 3; Adults section: Wednesdays 7:30pm, starts Jan. 5. So if you’re ready, let’s start playing!
